El Cajon Spa-Inspired Master Bath Remodel - Kaminskiy

Spa-Inspired Primary Bathroom Remodel in El Cajon

This El Cajon primary bathroom remodel transformed a dated layout into a bright, spa-like retreat with elevated finishes and a clean, timeless feel. By removing a partition wall and reworking key elements, the space now feels open, cohesive, and designed for everyday comfort.

Designed by Andrea Short and Haley Overlund, the remodel blends marble-inspired surfaces, soft blue cabinetry, and curated tile details to create a bathroom that feels both classic and fresh. The result is a serene, highly functional space centered around a soaking tub, a custom vanity, and a refined walk-in shower.

Project Overview

The Challenge

The existing master bathroom felt visually closed in and dated, with finishes that didn’t reflect the homeowners’ style. The layout also limited flow and made the space feel smaller than it actually was.

The Solution

Kaminskiy Design and Remodeling opened the room by removing a partition wall and introduced a cohesive materials plan that blends elegance with durability. A new custom vanity, upgraded tilework, a reimagined shower, and a statement soaking tub brought the bathroom to a modern, spa-inspired standard.

Design Highlights & Innovations

The tilework is the star of this master bathroom remodel, mixing the elegance of Arizona Tile Tru Marmi with a fresh hit of color in CS Sky Blue. Polished Tru Marmi wainscot and select shower walls are set in a clean horizontal offset, while the Sky Blue Lotus tile adds a bold vertical accent at the plumbing wall and niche, finished with a Sky Blue penny-round mosaic on the shower floor.

Custom Waypoint cabinetry grounds the space with classic craftsmanship and smart storage. The cabinetry pairs perfectly with MSI Quartz Soapstone Mist (Concrete Finish), used across the countertop, pony wall cap, and bench top for a seamless, modern look.

Fixtures and accessories bring the final layer of luxury and functionality, anchored by the Victoria + Albert York 69″ freestanding soaking tub and Kohler Artifacts undermount sinks. Pfister faucets, a wall-mounted tub filler, rain shower head, towel bar, and robe hooks are complemented by warm gold-tone sconces and a statement wall mirror for a polished, spa-like finish.

A curated mix of metals adds depth, pairing warm gold accents with crisp chrome plumbing for a balanced, layered look. Behind the soaking tub, the wainscoting tile is finished with a clean horizontal band at about the two-thirds height, creating an intentional “waterline” that frames the tub wall and visually wraps the room.
